The growing interest in cryptocurrencies around the world is also reflected in the elections. While many crypto money investors are close to the candidates who are positive about cryptocurrencies, interesting news came from Thailand, which will go to the elections in May.

Srettha Thavis, who is currently the head of the opposition party and candidate for prime minister, announced that if his party wins the election and forms a government, he will airdrop 10,000 Thai baht ($300) in cryptocurrency to every citizen.

While Thavis's proposal was described by some as a marketing gimmick and deceptive promise, some stated that this incentive could be effective for the economically struggling Thai people.

It has not yet been announced which cryptocurrency will be used in the airdrop.

Speaking to Bloomberg, Thavisin said:

"Our country has suffered economically in the last eight years. People have been given less income and large expenditures have been made. The current government is feeding the economy with small injections of money. This is not the right way and does not encourage proper and proper growth."

The Central Bank of Thailand declared stablecoins illegal in 2021.

One wonders if this proposal will contribute to the opposition in Thailand, where the elections are expected to go head-to-head.
