Popular Bitcoin and Lightning Network payment application Strike is officially launched in the United Kingdom as of today.
Bitcoin Payments App Strike Launches in UK, Following Europe
This launch allows eligible individuals and businesses in the UK to buy, sell, send, withdraw and make global payments using the app.
Strike founder and CEO Jack Mallers noted the potential of the UK market, stating that its population of 67 million and its status as the sixth largest global economy are significant opportunities for Bitcoin adoption.
The UK app is now available in 100 countries and territories worldwide, including the US, Latin America and Africa, following Strike's European expansion in April.
“We are incredibly excited to offer our services in the UK, complying with local regulations for Bitcoin and crypto companies,” Mallers said in a statement.
“While some Bitcoin companies are withdrawing from the UK, we are expanding our presence, doubling down on our commitment to greater global adoption of Bitcoin and driving forward financial innovation and inclusion in the UK,” he said.
The custodial iOS and Android app will allow users in the UK to purchase Bitcoin directly with free unlimited GBP deposits from their bank accounts, with features such as automatic conversion and scheduled recurring purchases.
Users will be able to sell Bitcoin and withdraw funds to their bank accounts, transfer to their own custodial wallets, or make unlimited instant payments via Bitcoin or Lightning Network.
