According to a recent report from cryptocurrency infrastructure provider Chainstack, Ethereum leads the way in web3 developer activity in the United States, while BNB Chain is the preferred option in Europe and Asia.
Chainstack, which runs nodes on behalf of its users, analyzed node dominance and protocol preferences in 2023 to gain insight into web3 infrastructure trends. Data revealed that Ethereum dominates protocol preferences in the US, accounting for 38.9% of node demands. This was followed by BNB Chain and Polygon with 31.3% and 17.2% respectively.
The report also highlighted that full nodes are preferred over archive nodes in all regions, with Asia showing a particularly strong preference at 99.5%. Full nodes provide a more efficient solution by reducing blockchain data compared to keeping a full archive of transaction history state.
However, flexible nodes are more preferred in terms of cost effectiveness and scalability. These nodes can be accessed by multiple users and applications simultaneously, unlike dedicated nodes deployed for a single use or application.
Chainstack supports 25 of the largest blockchain networks, including Ethereum, Bitcoin, Polygon and BNB Chain.
