Ethereum Layer 2 scaling solution Optimism (OP) altcoin will roll out the highly anticipated Bedrock update tomorrow.
The update will be done at 19:00 Turkish time.
The developer team said the following about what to expect during the update:
“On the day of the update, transactions, deposits and withdrawals will not be able to be made during the system downtime and the OP Mainnet chain will not be able to continue processing.”
Bedrock was announced in May 2022 and represents the first major network update voted on by the Optimism governing council's Token House.
The Bedrock update will bring a 47% reduction in Optimism Mainnet's protocol costs and security fees.
In addition, deposit times on the network will also be shortened, with Optimism reducing the time it takes to confirm a deposit from around 10 minutes to just three minutes.
With Bedrock, the network will eliminate "multiple aberrations" such as different code, design patterns and per-block transaction models from Ethereum and EVM currently available on Optimism. “Bedrock also adds support for EIP-1559, chain refactorings, and other Ethereum features available in L1,” the statement says.
