The Whale that Bought Bitcoin at $12 and Has Been Sleeping for Years Awoke: Transactions!

A mysterious Bitcoin whale that has been dormant for ten years has transferred 279 BTC ($7.8 million) to three new addresses.

Whale had 1,128 BTC ($31.6 million) purchased in October 2012 and May 2013, when Bitcoin prices were $12 and $195 respectively.

The transaction was spotted by a Twitter account that follows large BTC movements. The whale's original address has been inactive since May 2013.

The whale in question made its last transaction in April 2013 by purchasing 60 Bitcoins.

The identity and purpose of this 10-year-old BTC whale remains a mystery, but its activities may spark interest and curiosity among other Bitcoin holders and investors.

This latest transfer comes a day after another long-dormant cryptocurrency whale transferred 2,071.5 BTC worth $60.7 million yesterday after nine years of inactivity.

BTC whales are individuals or organizations that hold large amounts of BTC, usually more than 1,000 BTC.
