The Twitter account of Peter Schiff, a gold advocate known for his heavy criticism of Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies, has apparently been hacked.
After the possible hacking event from Schiff's account, there were shares that he released a new altcoin named GOLD. These suspicious-looking posts also contain a link, and when the link is clicked and the wallet is connected, users are likely to lose their crypto money.
In addition, Schiff's son, known as a Bitcoin advocate, also shared a post on the subject. Spencer Schiff said that his father is at a conference in London at the moment and that these posts were made at night at the time of the rate means that Peter Schiff was hacked:
“DO NOT CLICK THIS LINK. My father is in London and it's four in the morning there, which means he was almost certainly hacked. He is not responding to my messages.”
Peter Schiff was in London to attend a Blockchain event organized by the cryptocurrency called Bitcoin SV (BSV), which is seen by some as a Bitcoin counterfeit.
At the time this article was written, Schiff was continuing to share the scam link in question.
