While airdrop news continues to be heard frequently lately, another news came from the Drift protocol, a decentralized exchange (DEX) based in Solana (SOL).
Accordingly, Drift Protocol announced that it plans to launch a DRIFT governance token and airdrop the asset to its users within a few weeks.
It was stated that 10 percent of DRIFT's total supply will go to its users in this airdrop, and 100 million DRIFT tokens will be distributed in the airdrop.
Speaking to The Block, Drift co-founder Cindy Leow said that the token launch and airdrop is expected to take place in the coming weeks.
“The token creation event date and airdrop request date will be announced later.
100 million tokens will be airdropped to 180,000 Drift users based on their activities on the platform.
All DRIFT tokens will be distributed over five years, with the majority (more than 50%) allocated to the community. The distribution of token allocation is 53% for the community and ecosystem; “25% is reserved for protocol development and 22% for strategic participants.”
Drift was launched in 2021 as one of the first DeFi projects on Solana.
