Razer Announces Support for Web3 Games

Hardware manufacturer Razer, which is well known by those who are familiar with video games, announced today that it will support blockchain-based internet games.

Razer rolled up its sleeves to bring next-generation games to mainstream audiences. The company, which designs peripherals for gamers, will finance Web3 games through its investment subsidiary zVentures.

According to the statement, the investment program called zVentures Web3 Incubator (ZW3I) will help startups with successful game development records through the incubation program.

The company, which produces customized products such as mice, headphones, computers for video game lovers, has determined that Web3 games are still not adopted by the mainstream. Razer believes there is great potential in blockchain-based applications that are expected to take place in the gaming industry of the future.

Lack of Web3 Games

Lawrence Lin, Razer's director of blockchain, stated that they aim to support 36 different game projects for now. Lin emphasized that Web3 games do not focus enough on content, saying:

“Blockchain games prioritize the tech show over being engaging and entertaining. This prevents players from moving into the Web3 space.”
