The cross-chain bridge platform Poly Network has experienced another hacking event just two years after the $ 600 million hacking event in 2021.
Taking advantage of the vulnerability in the platform, the hacker created large amounts of different cryptocurrencies such as BUSD, BNB, and SHIB on various blockchains.
Also, the attackers have 99,999,184 BNB and 10 billion BUSD in Metis, 999,8127 trillion SHIB in Heco, 87,579,118 COW and 999.998,434 OOE, 636,643,868 STACK, 88,640.563 GM, 378,028,371 STACK on Avalanche. issued 82,854,568 XTM, 11,026,341 SPAY, 89,383,712 GM, 8,882,911 METIS, 926,160,132 DOV, 978,102,855 SLbD and other assets on BSC.
It was stated that the hack event affected 57 cryptocurrencies on 10 blockchains such as Ethereum, BNB, Polygon, Avalanche, Heco, OKx and Metis.
Making a statement on Twitter after the large-scale hack, the Poly Network team confirmed the hack and stated that it would temporarily suspend services.
Poly Network made the following statements in its statement:
“Dear users, we would like to inform you that Poly Network has temporarily suspended its services due to a recent attack.
We are actively communicating with interested parties and carefully assessing the size of the assets affected.
We are also waiting for help from cyber security experts who will support us in solving this problem. We really appreciate your understanding and want to assure you that we will keep you up to date with the latest developments regarding this incident.”
The value of cryptocurrencies in the wallet of the Poly Network attacker reached approximately $ 43 billion. However, due to limited market demand, these tokens are difficult to sell and make significant profits.
