New Cryptocurrency Statement from Turkish Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek!

As you may remember, Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek, who stated that studies on cryptocurrencies have been continuing in the past months, made new statements.

Speaking to Hürriyet, Mehmet Şimşek stated that the legal work on cryptocurrencies has reached the final stage.

Pointing out that cryptocurrencies will be defined first in the law to be enacted in this context, Minister Şimşek made the following statements in his statement:

“In the law to be enacted, the definition will be made first.

Apart from this, there will also be changes in the CMB law.

Crypto assets are defined as 'intangible assets that can express value or rights'. Crypto asset service provider and crypto asset custody service are defined. Regulations are foreseen for the operation of the platforms.”
