US President Trump announced that TSMC plans to invest $100 billion in the United States, and most of the investment will be in Arizona. In addition, he said: “TSMC will build five more chip factories in the United States, and the total investment in the United States will reach at least $165 billion.”
Following the announcement, TSMC shares rose, paring losses to 2.5%.
