A cryptocurrency wallet believed to be linked to Bitcoin mining company MARA Holdings reportedly transferred 1,000 BTC, worth approximately $80.19 million, to the BitGo platform. On-chain analytics platform Lookonchain noted that the transaction could indicate a possible Bitcoin sale.
According to data shared by Lookonchain, the transfer in question took place approximately six hours before the analysis was published. The transaction involved sending 1,000 BTC from a wallet associated with MARA Holdings to BitGo.
Analysts point out that large-scale Bitcoin transfers can be carried out in preparation for a sale. However, the transfer of assets to another platform does not definitively indicate that the sale has been completed.
Lookonchain assessed that MARA Holdings’ latest acquisition may also be driven by a sales motive.
The company reportedly plans to continue converting a portion of the Bitcoin it earns from mining operations and holds in its reserves into cash throughout 2026.
It was estimated that MARA Holdings may have sold approximately 1,000 BTC last week as well. With this latest transfer, the assessment that the company is continuing its activities of converting its Bitcoin assets into cash has resurfaced.
Bitcoin mining companies sometimes sell their crypto assets in reserve to cover operating expenses and manage their cash flow.
However, it has not yet been confirmed whether MARA Holdings’ recent transfer to BitGo resulted in a direct sale.
Given that BitGo also offers custody services, it’s possible the transaction has a different asset management purpose.
