US President Donald Trump accused Iran of violating the recently reached ceasefire agreement. Trump alleged that the Tehran regime was using one-way attack drones against commercial ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most critical maritime trade routes.
In a statement on his Truth Social account, Trump claimed that the Iranian military launched “at least four one-way attack drones” at ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz. According to Trump, one of the drones hit the upper deck of a large cargo ship, while the other three were intercepted.
In his post, Trump stated, “One of the drones struck directly onto the upper deck of a large and very expensive cargo ship. Damage occurred, but the ship was able to continue its journey.” The US President described the incident as a “stupid violation” of the ceasefire agreement.
According to Axios, citing a US official, the US military launched attacks in the Strait of Hormuz region following the incident. The report stated that the operation was carried out after Iran’s attack on a commercial vessel.
The US Central Command (CENTCOM) also confirmed in a statement that the US military had carried out strikes against Iran. According to the statement, US aircraft targeted Iranian missile and drone storage sites, as well as coastal radar systems.
