The US Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has issued an order to Kraken, one of the largest US cryptocurrency exchanges, to hand over information about its users.
In a petition to enforce its February subpoena, the IRS said it was trying to identify Kraken accounts that traded at least $20,000 in cryptocurrencies in any given year from 2016 to 2020. Kraken argued that the IRS went far beyond the limits set in its fight with Coinbase about a similar issue six years ago.
