Proposed improvements to Aave's lending platform include improved support for the native GHO stablecoin and a reduction in transaction fees.
The protocol's developers also plan to automate the protocol's calculation of interest rates for borrowing and part of the decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) management process.
“Aave V4 marks a significant advancement in DeFi designed to create new frontiers in capital efficiency, risk management, and scalability,” Aave Labs said in a post on its governance forum.
Aave V4 is planned to be released in mid-2025. This upgrade is part of Aave 2030, a broader initiative that aims to significantly revamp the look and feel of the protocol by 2030.
The current iteration of the protocol, Aave V3, launched on various networks two years ago and went live on the Ethereum mainnet in early 2023. The upcoming Aave V4 promises to build on this foundation by pushing the boundaries of what is possible in the DeFi space
