China has announced Pan Gongsheng as the new head of the country's Central Bank.
The words of Gongsheng, who was brought to this important task, about Bitcoin (BTC) in 2017 came to the fore again with this development.
In 2017, he said: “Sit down by the river and watch, one day Bitcoin's corpse will float before you”.
Gongsheng also said the following about BTC in his statements at that time:
“The Bitcoin bubble is just the latest incarnation of wild speculation. Historically, wild speculations such as the 'tulip mania' of 1637 and the Internet bubble of 2000 have occasionally hit financial markets. No one can predict the speculative wave. He doesn't know how long it will take or where the summit is.”
However, it should not be forgotten that many important figures who had negative opinions about Bitcoin in the past are now pro-BTC. In other words, the statements they made in the early period of BTC do not make much sense for many people today.
The biggest example of this is Michael Saylor, who tweeted that the days of BTC were numbered in 2013 and compared the world's largest crypto money to an online gambling system. Saylor is seen as one of the most important Bitcoin bulls today, and his company MicroStrategy has billions of dollars in BTC.
