US President Donald Trump made a statement regarding the diplomatic process with Iran.
Trump stated that there was a serious division within the Iranian government, adding that this was not unexpected.
Trump announced that the US has temporarily halted its planned attack on Iran following a diplomatic request from Pakistan. According to the statement, Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff Asim Munir and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif requested time for Iranian officials to prepare a joint proposal.
The US President said he had instructed the American military to suspend preparations for an attack during this period, but that the naval blockade against Iran would continue. Trump also stated that military forces would remain “ready at all times.”
On the other hand, Trump announced that the current ceasefire has been extended until the Iranian side presents a unified proposal and negotiations are completed.
