Shockingly, the frontend of DeFi platform Balancer fell victim to a cyber attack.
According to the developers, the issue is currently under investigation and users are strongly advised not to interact with the Balancer user interface until further notice.
According to the latest information, Balancer's domain has been compromised and users are being asked to approve a malicious contract that could empty their wallets. As of now, which is in the very early stages of the incident, it is reported that $238 thousand has been stolen.
Despite the severity of the situation, protocol cryptocurrency funds are thought to remain safe as the incident only affects the frontend. The problem seems to be limited to the hijacked front-end only. The Balancer team stated that it is working to resolve the issue and ensure the safety of its users' funds.
The same platform was also the victim of a hacking attack in August, and approximately $1 million in funds fell into the hands of hackers.
