Changpeng Zhao, CEO of the world's largest crypto exchange Binance, has stopped following Elon Musk on Twitter, according to the latest news.
The move came as a surprise, considering Zhao was one of the main investors in Musk's $44 billion purchase of Twitter last year.
Zhao's step came shortly after Elon Musk stepped down as Twitter CEO. Musk made some posts yesterday that caused an increase in the price of two meme tokens, PEPE and BOB.
Also known as CZ, Zhao had committed $500 million to support his vision for the social media platform, which he said stems from Musk's passion for freedom of expression and his desire to see more innovation and engagement from Twitter users.
Musk didn't comment on Zhao's unfollowing, but he did tweet recently that he's "very happy" with Twitter's development and has "many more ideas" to improve the platform.
Zhao's unfollowing of Musk could mark a rift between the two most influential figures in the crypto space, as both Binance and Musk have been instrumental in the adoption and innovation of cryptocurrencies.
