At this point, Nansen stated that on September 20, it received notification from one of its third-party suppliers that its systems had been compromised.
While this breach provided unauthorized access to an important account responsible for providing customers with access to the platform, it was stated that 6.8% of users were affected by this breach.
Stating that they stopped the violation, Nansen CEO Alex Svanevik made the following statements in his statement:
“On September 20, Nansen was notified by one of our third-party suppliers that its systems had been compromised.
A merchant-side breach allowed the attacker to gain access to administrative rights to an account used to provide customer access to our platform.
We were able to stop the unauthorized access shortly after learning about it and immediately launched an investigation.
“According to our research, 6.8% of our users were affected and we notified our users via email if and how they were affected and sent emails asking them to reset their passwords.”
Finally, the CEO told users that they should be more careful and reminded that they should change their passwords.
