CoinStats, a popular cryptocurrency portfolio tracking app, has reported a security breach. The breach affected wallets created directly within the CoinStats app, and some iOS users received fraudulent notifications.
According to the company, approximately 1.3% of CoinStats wallets were affected, which equates to a total of 1,590 wallets. Users are asked to use their exported private keys to transfer funds immediately as a precautionary measure.
A wallet belonging to Blurr.eth was seized in the hacking incident. The hacker managed to steal 3,657 MKR, equivalent to $8.7 million, and sold it on-chain for 2,482 ETH.
This theft had a significant impact on the market, causing the MKR altcoin price to drop from $2,462 to $2,280, resulting in a 7% decline in the short term.
The MKR price, which recovered after the sudden drop, could not reach its pre-hacking level. At the time of writing this article, MKR price is trading at $ 2,390.
