Serious security allegations have surfaced regarding the infrastructure used in FRNT, Wyoming’s state-backed stablecoin project. According to reports, LayerZero Labs made repeated errors in its operational security processes and lost control of a critical multisig private key used to manage FRNT deployment in the live production environment.

The Wyoming assessment indicated that LayerZero Labs had “recurring serious operational security failures.” One of these was reportedly related to the company’s failure to delegate authorization for its production environment to the Wyoming Stable Token Commission.

Investigations conducted to resolve the issue revealed that LayerZero Labs failed to maintain the necessary control over a critical private key used in managing the live FRNT deployment. The statement also alleged that the company did not adequately disclose information regarding both public and private security incidents.

Wyoming emphasized that such a security history is unacceptable for an entity responsible for the security of state-backed digital assets.

Following these developments, it was reported that Wyoming moved its FRNT infrastructure away from LayerZero and switched to Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) infrastructure for cross-chain messaging and transfer processes.
