Deutsche Bank is preparing to launch its crypto custody service in Germany within weeks, while planning to expand into the Asian market in 2027.

Deutsche Bank, one of Germany’s largest banks, is expanding its digital asset strategy and preparing to offer cryptocurrency custody services in both Europe and Asia. According to the co-head of the bank’s corporate banking division, the service is planned to launch in Germany within a few weeks and in Asia in 2027.

Deutsche Bank is expected to initially support Bitcoin, Ethereum, USDC, EURC, and the euro-pegged EURAU stablecoin. Institutional clients will not have to manage their own wallets or private key infrastructure to hold and transfer their assets. Wallet technology and key security will be provided by the bank.

The bank doesn’t intend to limit itself to just cryptocurrency custody services. Plans include stablecoin conversions, tokenized deposits, and services to help companies issue digital bonds or other blockchain-based securities.

Deutsche Bank received the necessary authorization from Germany’s financial regulator BaFin on October 12th under the European Union’s MiCA rules. However, the final launch of the product in Germany depends on the completion of regulatory processes. Which countries or financial centers will be prioritized in the Asian expansion has not yet been announced.

The bank had previously worked with Bitpanda and Taurus on crypto custody infrastructure. The new service is seen as part of Deutsche Bank’s goal to grow its corporate banking revenue by approximately 8 percent compound annual between 2025 and 2028.

The announcement doesn’t mean the Asian service is launching today. While the German launch is a short-term goal, the Asian expansion is planned for 2027. Also, the service will initially be geared more towards companies and institutional clients than individual investors.
