What is Hashrate? Hashrate shows the average number of mathematical encryption (hash) operations that all miners on the Bitcoin network attempt to solve per second. In short, it represents the total computing power and security of the Bitcoin network.

It is the clearest on-chain indicator of the hardware, time, and energy (electricity) that miners invest in the Bitcoin network.

How to Interpret It?

🟢 Rising Trend (Network Strengthening – Long-Term Bull Signal): A steadily increasing Hashrate or reaching new all-time highs (ATH) shows that miners are constantly connecting new and powerful devices to the network. This is the biggest proof that miners believe the Bitcoin price will rise in the long term (investing billions of dollars in the network). There is a famous saying in the crypto market: “Price follows Hashrate.”

🔴 Falling Trend (Miner Exodus / Capitulation – Short-Term Bearish Trend): Significant and sudden drops in Hashrate indicate that miners are pulling the plug on their devices because they are operating at a loss. This usually happens during the sharpest drops of bear markets or immediately after block reward halvings when unprofitable miners are eliminated from the system. Although it is a short-term stress signal for the network, the end of these drops (capitulations) usually creates excellent macro bottom opportunities for Bitcoin.
