The collaboration between global alternative asset manager Brevan Howard and Ripple has been expanded. Under the new agreement, Ripple Prime will provide core brokerage, clearing, and financing services across multiple asset classes to funds managed by Brevan Howard.
Brevan Howard will receive multi-asset brokerage, exchange, and financing services through Ripple Prime. The agreement could expand Ripple’s position in the corporate finance space.
The main brokerage system, called Prime Brokerage, helps large mutual funds trade in different markets, manage their collateral, access financing, and track their transactions through a common infrastructure. Ripple Prime is planned to offer a unified service encompassing both traditional financial products and digital assets.
Brevan Howard is a prominent investment manager known for his global macro strategies and digital asset investments. Various news sources indicate that the firm manages approximately $35 billion in assets. Ripple’s expansion of this relationship with such an institution could support its goal of becoming not just a blockchain payment solutions provider, but also an institutional marketplace infrastructure provider.
The new service aims to enable Brevan Howard funds to manage their positions in different products with a less fragmented operational structure. Obtaining brokerage, clearing, and financing services from a single platform can help improve capital utilization and simplify operational processes.
However, the announcement did not include a detailed list of the digital assets to be used. It should not be interpreted as a direct purchase of XRP or a specific XRP investment by Brevan Howard. Furthermore, using the Ripple Prime brand does not mean all transactions will be conducted via XRP or the XRP Ledger.
The agreement signals that traditional fund managers want more extensive access to crypto markets as regulated infrastructure and risk management tools develop. The true scale of the implementation will be revealed by how intensively Brevan Howard funds use the service.
