The choice between Bitcoin (BTC) and gold has been a hotly debated topic in the investment world. But the difference between the two is negligible, according to Howard Marks, co-founder of Oaktree Capital Management. According to Marks, both Bitcoin and gold lack real value.
“Gold is a little more tried and true, but it also lacks any analytical raison d'être,” Marks said. This perspective comes from a seasoned investor whose firm, Oaktree, has been a foreclosed debt specialist since its founding in 1995 and currently manages approximately $180 billion in assets.
Marks believes the investment landscape is undergoing a “change” and that the era of 0% interest rates will not return in the foreseeable future. Therefore, he tells investors to consider alternatives to Bitcoin or gold.
High-yield bond funds are a more suitable option, the co-founder claims. “Fixed income securities offer significant returns today, and the yield or return on a fixed income security is almost by definition safer,” Marks said.
