Former Ethereum advisor Steven Nerayoff, known for his recent statements, clarified the speculations surrounding Vitalik Buterin's past interest in Ripple and XRP.
Buterin Statement from Former Ethereum Advisor Steven Nerayoff
The community has long wondered whether Ethereum co-founder Buterin had any real interest in Ripple.
This conversation follows previous comments from Matt Hamilton, Ripple's former director of developer relations, who revealed that Buterin was seeking an experience opportunity at Ripple and even slept on the couch of the company's CTO, David Schwartz.
Nerayoff, who had meetings with Buterin, shared some information about Buterin's thought process. He noted that Buterin once expressed a desire to implement smart contracts on the Bitcoin network.
However, his proposal met with resistance from developers, which may have led him to explore other blockchain projects.
Regarding Ripple, Nerayoff explained that his discussions with Buterin about the company were based on his encounters with Ripple representatives, whom he also viewed as examples of effective operational practices in the blockchain industry.
Nerayoff also made the following statements:
“I have no idea. He told me he wanted to implement smart contracts on Bitcoin but the developers didn't want it.
I talked to him about Ripple, but that was because I had met Ripple employees and used them as an example of how a company in this space should be run. “Ripple was following me,” he said.
