LockBit, the world's largest and most harmful cyber crime organization, has also entered the radar of the USA and Europol.
An international police operation was launched against the Russian ransomware group LockBit, which is thought to have collected $120 million from thousands of people worldwide. While two people were detained, it was stated that the Lockbit-related cryptocurrency address was included in the sanctions list by the USA and Europol.
At this point, US OFAC also added the cryptocurrency wallet addresses of two Russian citizens linked to LockBit to the sanctions list.
Apart from OFAC, Tether also added that it added LockBit-related addresses to its blacklist today.
The US Treasury Department said in a statement that it has added nearly a dozen Bitcoin and Ethereum addresses to its global OFAC blacklist, claiming they were used by individuals linked to LockBit.
It was stated that none of these addresses contained any funds.
Europol also stated in its statement after the operation that more than 200 cryptocurrency accounts linked to LockBit were frozen.
