Turkish Users' Favorite Altcoin Activated Its Latest Update!

Altcoin Avalanche, a Proof-of-Stake blockchain developed by Ava Labs, has enabled Cortina upgrade on its mainnet by implementing changes that will help optimize the network for developers.

Altcoin Avax Enables Cortina Upgrade

Cortina upgraded to the latest version of Avalanche Go v1.10.0, the node application for the Avalanche network, around 11:00 pm yesterday.

The Cortina upgrade included porting the X-Chain to run the Snowman++ consensus; which means that the entire network has been moved to a single consensus engine.

This change is crucial for integrating Avalanche Warp Messaging (AWM) as well as enabling complex X-Chain operations.

Avalanche X-Chain or Exchange Chain is one of the three main chains on the platform, along with P-Chain (Platform Chain) and C-Chain (Contract Chain). X-Chain is specifically designed for the creation and management of local Avalanche assets.

In addition, the upgrade also included changes to the C-Chain, the smart contract layer compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine.

Cortina has increased the C-Chain block gas limit from 8 million gas to 15 million gas to enable more complex dApps to be deployed on the network. The gas target, which is a certain amount of gas that the network aims to consume in a certain time interval, will be kept at 15 million gas in 10 seconds.

The upgrade came at a time when the C-Chain was reviving where most of the activity took place. According to data from Avalanche block explorer SnowTrace, daily transactions have more than tripled to date after a significant period of decline at the end of 2022.
