Social Media Giant Announces Using Cryptocurrency For In-App Payments!

Telegram has announced that users can now accept cryptocurrency payments within the messaging app, thanks to service provider Wallet.

Telegram Wallet Launches BTC, USDT and TON Payments for In-App Payments

Built on The Open Network (TON) blockchain, Wallet initially enabled crypto transfers between users in chats. Now, it allows merchants to integrate cryptocurrency into their bots to accept payments.

WalletPay supports tether (USDT) and toncoin (TON) for payment of goods and services. This new feature streamlines the checkout process and increases convenience for both merchants and users.

Telegram's cryptocurrency journey began with the development of the TON blockchain project, which was abandoned in 2020 due to legal disputes with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). However, community members kept TON alive under the TON Foundation.
