Binance Chief Strategy Officer Patrick Hillmann confirmed that he is leaving the company after two years of service.
Announcing his departure via Twitter, Hillmann said that he maintains good relations with Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao, also known as CZ, and is grateful for the opportunity to work under his leadership.
Hillmann said he faced a number of industry-driven crises and regulatory challenges during his tenure at Binance, including the Luna collapse, the 3AC lawsuit, and the FTX crisis. He stated that despite these challenges, Binance continues to grow and evolve.
Hillmann also revealed that his wife is about to give birth to their second child and that she thinks it’s time to step aside and move on to her next assignment.
Expressing his support and admiration for his colleagues at Binance and the blockchain and cryptocurrency industry as a whole, he expressed his excitement to watch this industry explode in the years to come.
CZ showed his appreciation and respect for his former colleague by responding to Hillmann’s statement with a heart emoji. CZ has yet to announce Hillmann’s replacement.
Hillmann’s departure comes amid a wave of resignations from Binance’s senior figures, including General Counsel Han Ng and Vice President of Compliance Steven Christie.
