A user named Kenny Muli, who claims to be Gary Gensler's assistant on Twitter, shared his personal story of how he got involved in the crypto space and how he feels about the recent lawsuits filed by the SEC against Binance and Coinbase.
Gary Gensler Sends Student's BNB Report to Changpeng Zhao
Muli said he was a student in Gensler's CryptoFinance & Blockchain Lab course at MIT Sloan School of Management in 2018, where he wrote a report on Binance's native token, BNB. He said that Gensler sent his report to Binance founder and CEO Changpeng Zhao, which inspired him to become more interested in cryptocurrencies.
Muli said he was impressed by the interaction between Gensler and Zhao and felt an opportunity for a blockchain future open to innovation by both regulator and innovator.
The year before I was @GaryGensler’s teaching assistant for CryptoFinance & Blockchain Lab at @MITSloan, I was a student in his class. I wrote a report on BNB. That report, which Mr. Gensler sent to @cz_binance to read, inspired me to get more involved crypto.

He also said that he met Victor Ji, a web3 developer, and hacked a project related to decentralized identity and small businesses with him. He said he discussed these ideas during phone calls with Gensler and felt as if he was being guided by the universe.
Muli said she's been developing something on web3 for the past three years and the recent events were some of the hardest moments of her life. He expressed regret at the news that the SEC is suing Binance and Coinbase because he was inspired by the same people involved.
He said he wished the outcome would have been different, and hoped that whatever came out of this event, the hard work that the brightest minds put into changing the world would be taken into account.
