SkyBridge founder Anthony Scaramucci expressed his support for Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris, stating that Harris is open to cryptocurrencies both privately and publicly.
According to Scaramucci, the fact that Harris is even considering speaking at a Bitcoin conference indicates a potential shift in the current administration's approach to digital assets.
Scaramucci suggests there will be significant changes under Harris, including the ouster of Gary Gensler and the marginalization of Elizabeth Warren. Scaramucci points to a more favorable environment for cryptocurrencies under Harris' leadership, saying, “Harris will be much more moderate on crypto.”
Responding to criticism of Harris' decision not to speak at the Bitcoin conference, Scaramucci said, “I see a lot of bad comments about Kamala Harris' decision not to speak at the Bitcoin Conference. The message is 'Her administration is hostile to cryptocurrencies, vote for Trump.' However, as recently as 2022, Trump called Bitcoin a 'scam' and his administration was hostile to digital assets. Trump has changed on this issue because he is an interactive person who sees the opportunity to raise funds/support.
Scaramucci emphasizes that Harris has consistently taken an open-minded approach to cryptocurrency. “He didn't call the shots on crypto policy in the Biden administration. Harris and Warren are not friends. Under Harris, Gensler will be fired and Warren will step aside as Chairman of Financial Services. Let's keep crypto bipartisan; that will be healthier for the ecosystem in the long run,” he added.
Tyler Winklevoss Warns of Consequences of Harris Not Attending Bitcoin Conference
In response, Gemini co-founder Tyler Winklevoss expressed disappointment in Harris' decision to skip the Bitcoin conference. “Kamala Harris' absence from the Bitcoin conference will not be forgotten,” Winklevoss warned. “The industry will 'show no mercy' in November,” he said, pointing to the potential political repercussions within the crypto community that Harris will receive.
