David Bailey, the organizer of the Bitcoin Conference, which will start tomorrow and is the largest Bitcoin meeting in the world, made an interesting claim for the possible Democratic presidential candidate in the USA, Kamala Harris.
In his statement, Bailey claimed that Kamala Harris used the phrase “Bitcoin is the money of criminals” in a private speech to a major Democratic donor.
Cryptocurrency users in the USA are an important group in terms of voting potential. That's why Harris will not make such statements much, at least until she is elected. On the other hand, Republican candidate Donald Trump made Bitcoin and cryptocurrency-friendly statements in his election campaign. Trump wants “all remaining BTC to stay in the USA.”
Under the Biden administration, great pressure was exerted on the cryptocurrency market, especially by SEC Chairman Gary Gensler. A lawsuit was filed against many cryptocurrency companies, and it was claimed that all altcoins, including Ethereum, were securities.
The SEC has taken a quieter and more docile stance lately due to the defeats it has suffered in litigation. On the other hand, it remains unclear whether this calm atmosphere will continue if the Democrats are elected.
