While the popularity of cryptocurrencies continues to increase, hacking incidents continue to occur.
At this point, the latest news came from Jeff Zerlin, co-founder of Axie Infinity and Ronin Network.
According to PeckShieldAlert's post, two cryptocurrency wallet addresses belonging to Jeff Zirlin, one of the five co-founders of Axie Infinity and Ronin Network, were hacked and approximately $9.7 million worth of Ethereum (ETH) was stolen.
Aleksander Larsen, co-founder of Ronin Network, immediately made a statement after this hacking incident and said that the Ronin bridge, which had previously experienced a major hack, has a high level of security.
Larsen also stated that the Ronin Bridge is strictly monitored, and if suspicious movements and abnormally large gravity are detected, the Ronin Bridge will be stopped.
Following the hack, Zerlin also made a statement and confirmed that two of her personal wallets were hacked.
Zerlin stated that the hacking incident was not caused by security vulnerabilities in the Ronin bridge or Sky Mavis and said:
“This has been a difficult morning for me. Two of my personal addresses have been hacked.
The attack is limited to my personal accounts and has nothing to do with verification or transactions of the Ronin chain.
Additionally, the leaked keys have nothing to do with Sky Mavis operations.
“I want to assure everyone that we have stringent security measures in place for all chain-related activities.”
Following this event, the Axie Infinity (AXS) price dropped by 3%.
