Popular cryptocurrency project Polygon has published proposals on the network representing the transition to Polygon 2.0, which has been awaited for some time.
While 3 proposals were published by Polygon Labs, among them was the creation of POL token to replace MATIC tokens.
Polygon 2.0 was first introduced in June. According to the information included at the launch, Polygon 2.0 aims to offer unlimited scalability and unified liquidity for the MATIC network by leveraging the latest Zero-Knowledge (ZK) technology. It will also introduce a new tokenomics model and a more decentralized governance system for the protocol and treasury.
While it is planned to move to Polygon 2.0 next year, feedback from the community will be taken into account with the official change proposal published.
One of the suggestions proposes to create a new token and replace MATIC tokens with this token. With the PIP-18 proposal, it is proposed to issue the POL token and replace the MATIC token.
