The Government Efficiency Institute (DOGE), which was launched with great hopes after Donald Trump's election victory in the USA last November and was established to reduce budget deficits within the government, has officially closed.
Although there were previous reports of its closure, it was never officially confirmed. However, the head of the US Center for Personnel Management (OPM) has now stated that DOGE has officially closed.

Speaking to Reuters, US Office of Personnel Management Director Scott Kupor said the DOGE institution was dissolved eight months before its term ended.
“There is no such thing as a Ministry of Government Efficiency anymore,” Cooper declared, declaring the agency dissolved.
So far, the Department of Government Efficiency has taken steps to reduce the size of the federal government in Washington, make budget cuts and simplify presidential policy priorities, which have generated significant controversy.
The Department of Government Efficiency, established in January this year under the leadership of Tesla CEO Elon Musk, played a central role in the restructuring of federal agencies and was scheduled to operate until July 2026 under an executive order signed by President Trump.
Finally, while the duties of the DOGE institution were transferred to OPM, employees were also transferred to other duties.
