Diplomatic efforts to negotiate a ceasefire between the US and Iran have reached an impasse. According to The Wall Street Journal, no progress has been made in the ongoing negotiations, and the current round of talks is considered a “dead end.”
The deadlock in the process stems from the messages Iran has conveyed to the mediators. The Tehran administration has officially stated that it is not keen on meeting with US officials in Islamabad in the coming days, and has described Washington’s demands as “unacceptable.”
Meanwhile, military developments on the ground are also attracting attention. According to Axios, a US warplane was shot down over Iran, and search and rescue operations have been launched to find the crew. According to CBS News, US forces managed to rescue one crew member from the downed aircraft.
According to Axios, Israel canceled its planned attacks on Iran to avoid disrupting search and rescue operations.
