Japanese investment firm Metaplanet has raised 2 billion yen ($13.4 million) through a new round of zero-interest bond issuance, continuing its aggressive Bitcoin (BTC) accumulation strategy.
Metaplanet Issues $13.4 Million in Zero-Yield Bonds to Buy More Bitcoin
According to a shareholder statement published today, the publicly traded firm will use the funds to purchase more BTC, with Evo Fund serving as the sole bondholder. The non-interest bearing bonds will be fully repaid by September 17, 2025.
Stable Bitcoin Accumulation
Metaplanet has been taking advantage of recent market corrections by conducting regular bond issuances to increase its BTC reserves. Last week, the company purchased 162 BTC for $13.5 million at an average price of $83,123 per BTC.
With its latest purchases, Metaplanet now holds 3,200 BTC worth approximately $265 million, making it the 10th largest publicly traded Bitcoin holder, according to Bitcointreasuries.net.
The move shows Metaplanet’s continued confidence in Bitcoin as a treasury asset, mirroring strategies implemented by firms like Strategy in the United States.
