According to cryptocurrency tracking company Chainalysis, a mysterious Bitcoin user may have uncovered hundreds of wallets allegedly held by security agencies, using the Bitcoin blockchain as a weapon against Russia.

Mysterious Bitcoin User Shares 986 Wallets He Claims To Belong To Russia

In a post shared by Chainalysis, which works closely with the US government, an anonymous person used a feature in the way the Bitcoin blockchain documents transactions, controlled by the Russian Foreign Military Intelligence Agency (GRU), Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR), and Federal Security Service (FSB). It was stated that it detected 986 wallets.

In the messages written in Russian, the person who revealed the addresses accuses the wallets of being involved in hacker activities.

Backing the claims of the mysterious Bitcoin user, Chainalysis says that at least three of the wallet addresses allegedly belonging to Russia have been previously associated with Russia by third parties. Two of them are said to have been involved in the Solarwinds attack, while the third is said to have paid for servers used in Russia's 2016 US election disinformation campaign.
