US Secret Service Reveals Its Opinion on Monero (XMR)
Asked by his followers about their general view of the Monero (XMR) altcoin and whether it is seen as a threat by the United States, Secret Service officials replied:
“Our friends at the Department of Justice consider the use of cryptocurrencies with increased anonymity, such as Monero, to be a high-risk activity that is indicative of possible criminal behavior.”
Anonymized cryptocurrencies are cryptocurrencies that provide privacy features such as hiding the identity of the parties to a transaction and limiting the ability of third parties to track transactions. This is in contrast to privacy-free cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, which allow anyone to view public records of transactions on a blockchain.
After that, the same follower asked the Secret Service officials if they had ever considered issuing their own tokens or even meme tokens, this time the officials replied:
