Travala (AVA) has become the first cryptocurrency-based platform to be listed on Google Hotels, the world’s largest accommodation search engine.
The integration, announced today, allows travelers to compare hotel rates on multiple online travel agencies, including Booking.com, Expedia and Travala.com, and book directly from their preferred platform.
Travala said that the integration has started with a certain number of hotels and that number will increase significantly in the coming months.
Google Travel, which includes hotels, vacation rentals, flights, events and more, has continued to gain market share since the pandemic, accounting for 24% of desktop visits to top travel sites in the first half of 2022, according to Travala.com. In contrast, for Booking.com, Airbnb, and Expedia, the figure was 16%, 15% and 13%, respectively.
Following the development, a sudden rise was recorded in the price of Travala’s altcoin AVA.
