The Celo Foundation announced today that Google's computing cloud service, Google Cloud, will run an authenticator on its Celo network.
At this point, Google Cloud's Blockchain Node Engine will help Celo migrate to an Ethereum layer 2.
The Celo Foundation said in its statement that it will join Deutsche Telekom and other ecosystem contributors by running a validator on Google Cloud's Celo network.
It was stated that the validator run by Google Cloud will help verify new transactions and protect the security of the blockchain.
“To facilitate and accelerate the proposed transition to Celo's Ethereum ecosystem, Celo will leverage Google Cloud's Blockchain Node Engine, a fully managed node hosting service.”
Carlos Arena, director of digital assets at Google Cloud, said, “At Google Cloud, we're focused on empowering the Web3 ecosystem by giving founders and developers the tools they need to scale their applications. Running a validator on the Celo network builds on our collaboration with the Celo Foundation, helping to keep the network growing. We look forward to it.” said.
Following the news, CELO spiked around 6% to $0.515.
