Fox Business reporter Eleanor Terrett shared that the SEC will continue its investigations into the cryptocurrency sector in 2025.
Sharing from the X account, Terrett said that the SEC included the cryptocurrency sector in its list of investigation priorities in 2025, despite the absence of major crypto participants registered with the Commission in 2024.
Accordingly, the SEC announced that it has included crypto assets in the list of priority issues to be examined in 2025.
It was reported that the only crypto asset products that could be interacted with according to the SEC's priority list are spot Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) ETF products.
According to the shared document, the SEC wrote:
“The SEC continues to monitor the proliferation of investments involving crypto assets and related products and services.
Given the volatility and activity involving crypto-asset markets, the SEC will continue to monitor and, where appropriate, investigate registered persons providing crypto-asset-related services.
Registrants' reviews will focus on offerings, sales, recommendations, advice, trading, and other activities involving crypto assets offered and sold as securities or related products, such as spot Bitcoin or Ethereum ETFs.
“We will continue to evaluate the practices of registered persons to address the technological risks associated with the use of blockchain and distributed ledger technology, including risks to the security of crypto assets.”
