In a new development following the hacking of Stake.com, it was reported that the hacker transferred 1,726 ETH (Ethereum) to multiple Ethereum addresses within 24 hours.
Hackers Sent Stolen Ethereum to Other Addresses
These Ethereum addresses linked at least 2,617 ETH to multiple BTC addresses via THORChain.
BTC addresses then distributed Bitcoin across multiple addresses and transferred it to new BTC addresses. However, the funds have not yet been transferred.
Stake.com previously announced on September 4 that ETH/BSC hot wallets were compromised, leading to unauthorized transactions. It was reported that the attack resulted in the theft of over $40 million in cryptocurrencies.
Despite this, the platform assured users that their funds were safe and that all other wallets not directly affected by the attack remained fully functional.
During this time, several users reported that they were unable to deposit or withdraw funds to Stake.com on the X platform.
Blockchain researchers PeckShield and ZachXBT tracked the money and reported that hackers stole $15,700,000 in Ethereum and $25,600,000 in Binance Smart Chain (BSC) and Polygon.
The total amount lost due to the hack reached $41,300,000, making it one of the highest-yielding crypto heists so far in 2023.
