US President Donald Trump has expressed a strong commitment to positioning the United States as a global leader in cryptocurrency and emerging technologies.
In a recent statement, Trump spoke of his vision to integrate crypto into the country’s strategic priorities, saying it was necessary to leave international competitors like China behind.
“We’re going to do something great in the crypto space,” Trump said. “We don’t want China or anyone else to adopt it before us. We want to be the leader.”
Trump’s remarks also touched on the broader technological landscape, including artificial intelligence (AI). He noted that it was important to stay “well ahead of AI” in addressing the infrastructure demands of such developments. “We’re going to need a tremendous amount of electricity, more than double what we have now, to support these industries,” he added.
As part of his energy strategy, Trump praised his proposed environmental oversight chairman, Lee Zeldin, for being effective in speeding up approvals for energy projects, saying clean and efficient solutions were needed to meet the nation's growing energy demands, with a focus on harnessing natural gas.
