Claims circulating on social media about a “new purchase of 451 Bitcoin” by Trump Media and Technology Group, which is linked to US President Donald Trump, have been found to be false.
Initial reports claimed that Trump Media purchased 451 Bitcoin (approximately $40.3 million), bringing their total holdings to 11,542 BTC (approximately $1.04 billion).
However, on-chain data and wallet activity associated with the company indicate that this is not a new purchase, but merely a transfer of assets from hot wallets on the CryptoCom exchange to company-controlled wallets. It is stated that these Bitcoins were purchased in July, and the recent movement is a technical transfer related to custody arrangements.
Trump Media announced in July that it had accumulated approximately $2 billion worth of Bitcoin and cryptocurrency-related assets. The company added that these assets constituted about two-thirds of its total liquid assets. Therefore, the recent wallet activity is being interpreted not as a new purchase to expand the balance sheet, but rather as a repositioning of the existing position.
