Yeni Şafak claimed the other day that the cryptocurrency draft would be presented to the parliament before the end of 2023.
This claim was partially confirmed by AK Party Deputy Chairman of Information and Communication Technologies, Ömer İleri.
According to the news of Anadolu Agency, Ömer, who stated that a draft regarding cryptocurrencies is being prepared, but did not give a clear date, said: “I believe that Turkey will be one of the countries that have a say in the field of innovative technologies, both blockchain and artificial intelligence. Our march in this direction continues.” said.
Speaking to AA, Ömer İleri stated that they came together with the leaders of the sector in events that bring together important organizations in the Blockchain world, and said that they are happy with the steps taken by Turkey in the field of Blockchain.
He defined Advanced Blockchain technology as “a technology that is mostly known in our society through crypto assets, but in fact, it is far beyond crypto assets” and said:
“The cryptocurrency industry is an area that is just beginning to mature even in developed countries. At this point, the European Union (EU) Crypto Assets Regulation (MiCA) will come into force in 2024.
We see that there is no federally comprehensive practice on this issue in the USA. At this point, Türkiye is one of the fast-moving countries.
We started a study last year. I was also involved in part of the process. There is serious social interest in crypto assets. Here, we have been working to protect our citizens, to ensure the security of our citizens, but also to pave the way for the blockchain mentality and not to block it.
In this context, we are also in communication with the sector. Relevant institutions are doing their work. “This issue will come to the agenda again in the future.”
Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek also made a statement regarding cryptocurrency regulations.
