Cryptocurrency Crisis in Ukraine: Zelensky Dismissed Top Executives

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced the dismissal of heads of regional recruitment and social support centers (TCC) due to corruption and abuse of office.

It turned out that some of them accept bribes in cryptocurrencies, while others illegally transport people out of the country.

The decision was taken at the meeting of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC) on Wednesday, August 11, 2023.

According to Zelensky, the security forces opened 112 criminal cases against Military Committees officials and identified 33 suspects. The suspects include district, city and district military commissioners, as well as other TCC employees.

Zelensky said in his statement:

“Abuse of power in various regions: Donetsk, Poltava, Vinnytsia, Odesa, Kiev, Lviv. Someone got cash, someone got cryptocurrency. This system must be run by people who know exactly what war is. This system can be entrusted to soldiers who went to the front or who could not be in the trenches because they lost their health or limbs, but who protect their dignity and are free from skepticism.”
