While the cryptocurrency market is waiting for the SEC to open spot Ethereum ETFs to trading, new statements came from SEC Member Hester Peirce.
Accordingly, SEC member Peirce said that they are open to re-evaluating staking in ETH ETFs.
Pro-crypto SEC member Hester Peirce, nicknamed crypto mom, recently said in an interview that the SEC may reconsider its stance on supporting staking for spot Ethereum ETFs.
“I definitely think it's something like staking or any of the features of the product… those are always open to re-evaluation on my part.”
While these comments were received positively in the market, Bloomberg ETF analyst Eric Balchunas stated that these statements are important for ETH ETFs and said the following.
“Hester Peirce says what we think, but it's good to hear it directly: both staking and in-kind creation/redemption features for ETH/BTC ETFs are open to reconsideration.”
Hester Peirce saying what we thought but nice to hear it directly: both staking and in-kind creation/redemption for eth/btc ETFs are "open for reconsideration" (if there's a change at POTUS obv). https://t.co/sqAmL878LE
